Add 1/2 cup of vegetable oil to the melted butter and mix.

Cut the phyllo pastry sheets to fit your baking tray (25cm x 35cm / 9"x13").
Grease Tray

Layer Remaining Phyllo
Place the remaining phyllo sheets on top of the pistachios, brushing each layer with the butter-oil mixture every two layers.
Slice Baklava
Once all phyllo layers are in place, slice the baklava into desired rectangle shapes using a sharp knife. Do not cut all the way through to the bottom layer.
Pour Leftover Oil
Pour the remaining butter-oil mixture over the sliced baklava, ensuring it seeps into the cuts. Avoid the bubbly part of the melted butter if it has separated.

Warm Syrup and Tray
Ensure both the baklava tray and the syrup have slightly cooled down but are still warm.
Pour Syrup
Pour the warm syrup evenly over the baked baklava.
Garnish and Serve
Garnish with extra chopped pistachios if desired. Let it sit for at least an hour before serving to allow the syrup to soak in.

Tips

Ensure your phyllo dough is fresh and not dried out for the best crispness.
Work quickly when handling phyllo dough to prevent it from drying out; keep unused sheets covered with a damp cloth.
Don't overfill with pistachios, as this can make the baklava soggy.
Allowing the baklava to soak in the syrup for several hours will result in a more flavorful and moist dessert.
