Melt Butter
In a large pot over medium-low heat, melt the butter completely.
Add Marshmallows
Add the marshmallows to the melted butter. Stir continuously until the marshmallows are completely melted and smooth.
2Incorporate Cake Mix and Cereal
5m
Add Cake Mix
Remove the pot from the heat. Gradually add the lemon cake mix, stirring until it is fully incorporated into the marshmallow mixture.

Grease Pan
Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with cooking spray or butter. You can also line it with parchment paper for easier removal.
Transfer Mixture
Pour the rice krispie treat mixture into the prepared pan.
Press Evenly
Using a greased spatula or your hands (lightly greased with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking), press the mixture evenly into the pan. Be careful not to press too hard, as this can make the treats too dense.
4Cool and Cut
1h
Cool Completely
Let the treats cool completely in the pan at room temperature for at least 1 hour, or until firm.
Cut into Squares
Once cooled and firm, use a knife or a pizza cutter to cut the treats into squares or desired shapes.
Tips
For an extra burst of lemon flavor, you can add a teaspoon of lemon zest along with the cake mix.
If you find the mixture is too sticky to handle, lightly grease your hands or a spatula with butter or cooking spray.
Ensure the butter and marshmallows are melted over low heat to prevent scorching.
Don't over-press the mixture into the pan, as this can result in hard, dense treats.
