Instructions

1Prepare the Tofu5m
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Drain Tofu
Open the package of extra-firm tofu and drain out the water. Gently remove the tofu block from the packaging.
Press Tofu
Lay the tofu on a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Place another towel on top and press down gently to remove excess water. For best results, place a weighted object (like cast iron skillets) on top for 15-30 minutes to press out as much water as possible.
Cut Tofu
Cut the pressed tofu into uniform cubes, approximately 1-inch in size. Aim for consistency for even cooking.
2Season the Tofu5m
Combine Wet Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 tbsp low-sodium tamari, 1 tbsp avocado oil, 1/4 tsp kosher salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper, and 1/2 tsp garlic powder.
Add Corn Starch
Add 1 tbsp corn starch to the bowl. Whisk until the corn starch is incorporated into the liquid mixture.
Coat Tofu
Add the tofu cubes to the bowl. Gently toss the tofu with the seasoning mixture using a spoon or your hands until each piece is lightly coated. Don't worry if the tofu crumbles slightly; it will come together.
3Bake the Tofu30m
Arrange on Baking Sheet
Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the seasoned tofu cubes in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch each other.
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 30 minutes, flipping the tofu halfway through the cooking time.
Cool Slightly
Once baked, remove the tofu from the oven and let it cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes. This helps the crispy texture set.
4Flavor the Tofu5m
Prepare Buffalo Sauce
In a clean bowl, combine 2 tbsp buffalo wing sauce and 1 tbsp blue cheese dressing. Toss the baked tofu cubes in this mixture until evenly coated.
Prepare BBQ Sauce
In a clean bowl, combine 2 tbsp BBQ sauce. Toss the baked tofu cubes in this mixture until evenly coated.
Prepare Teriyaki Sauce
In a clean bowl, combine 2 tbsp teriyaki sauce with a pinch of sriracha sauce (to taste). Toss the baked tofu cubes in this mixture until evenly coated.

Plate and Garnish
Serve the flavored tofu immediately. For buffalo style, serve with carrot and celery sticks and blue cheese dressing. For BBQ or teriyaki, serve over rice with steamed broccoli, or as part of a salad. Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped scallions if desired.

Tips

Pressing the tofu thoroughly is key to achieving a crispy texture.
Ensure the tofu cubes are in a single layer on the baking sheet for even cooking and crisping.
Flipping the tofu halfway through baking helps ensure all sides become golden brown and crispy.
Don't overcrowd the baking sheet; use two sheets if necessary.
The corn starch coating is crucial for creating a crispy exterior.
