Edit a recipe or write your own

Change any recipe to suit how you cook. Your edits are yours alone, and the original is one tap away.

Less salt, an extra clove of garlic, a note about your oven: make any recipe yours without worrying about breaking it.

Edit a recipe

  1. Open the recipe and tap •••, then Edit.
  2. Change the title, description, cuisine, servings, times, ingredients or steps.
  3. Tap Save.

Your edits only change your copy. Anyone else who saved the recipe still sees the original. An Edited label tells you you're looking at your version.

Photos work slightly differently. On a recipe you added yourself, a new photo updates it for everyone. On anyone else's recipe, the photo you set is yours alone, like your other edits.

Undo your edits

Tap •••, then Restore Original. Your edits are removed and the recipe goes back to how it was.

Write a recipe from scratch

In My Recipes, tap +, then From scratch. A recipe needs a title, at least one ingredient and at least one step.

  • Group ingredients with Add Ingredient Group, like "For the sauce".
  • Mark an ingredient as optional, or add a note to it.
  • Group steps with Add Step Group, and give each step a time.
